Community Events in Langley, Surrey and White Rock

There’s much to do and see!

From Fort Langley, to Walnut Grove, to downtown Langley itself, this bustling community provides many activities and events to do and see.

When you live on the West Coast, being bored is a choice. There is always something great going on to do, see or participate in. An abundance of activities is one of the things that makes this slice of Canada the perfect place to live!

Head east of Langley on Fraser Highway, and there you will find some outdoor entertainment well worth the drive. With only a handful of drive-in theatres left in North America, this nostalgic, family and single friendly event will have you telling your friends, and asking yourself why you didn’t enjoy this outdoor festivity sooner!

Located just off of Hwy 10 as you head east towards Glover Rd, is another great event centre for children. The Great Escape boasts of laser tag, bowling, and many other activities sure to keep your kids occupied for hours. The cost is a little pricier than Captain Kids, but the experience is also fuller and likely longer lasting for your children – especially the older ones.

Depending on the season, the Langley Events Centre is brimming with events and activities for the whole family. From ices-skating in the winter, to the water park in the summer …this state-of-the-art facility holds ‘em both. In addition to various concerts throughout the year, a full-scale gym, a daycare, a gymnastics facility, a birthday resource room – and much more!

PARADES

Parades are one of my past-time favourites, and both Fort Langley and downtown Langley put on a great parade.

During the May long weekend, Fort Langley comes together and hosts a pancake breakfast at the Legion Hall (88th and Glover), followed by a grand display of floats parading the streets between Wendels and the Pharmasave on Glover Rd as well. Whether May brings flowers or showers, this parade walks on. Be sure to check it out (and bring an umbrella just in case)!

During the Christmas season, downtown Langley commandeers Santa and his sleigh for a spectacularly festive Christmas parade. The parade takes place on Fraser Highway between 203 and 207 Streets. Country Christmas follows at the Douglas Recreation Centre with Mayor Fassbender kicking off the “tree lighting” ceremony, entertainment and family activities abound. Naughty or nice, all are welcome!
